LISA MCLELLAN INTERVIEW
A Journey of Transformation
Lisa McLellan presents “When the Eagle & The Condor Fly as One,” an enchanting theatre dance choreography featuring 15 talented performers and a live deejay.
Originally from Canada, Lisa has spent over two years in the heart of Vilcabamba. With a rich background in modern dance, she brings a unique perspective to her work.
The inspiration for this project arose from the Eagle and the Condor Prophecy. It is believed that during this 500-year period, when the eagle and condor unite in flight, a transformative consciousness will emerge—one that can’t be extinguished.
In this context, the eagle represents the mind, cutting-edge sciences, and technology, but also the shadows of colonialism and the devastation born from a disconnection from the heart. Conversely, the condor embodies a deep-rooted connection to the land and the essence of community.
Through this performance, Lisa seeks to embody the prophecy as a “possibility.” She views it as an urgent invitation for humanity to actively participate in realizing this vision.
Her show is a heartfelt expression of what can be achieved from an inner point of view. After two decades of waiting for the right moment, she felt compelled by the significance of this subject to create a choreography aimed at fostering a new consciousness and encouraging a more harmonious world.
Today, with a smile, she reflects on the three-month journey it took to bring this project to completion. It was a deeply collaborative effort with her dancers, who helped to shape and refine her initial vision and structure into a full-fledged performance.
She describes the show as an extravaganza filled with unexpected elements, considering it a modern ritual or a prayer for a brighter future.
